4. Is the White Chia Seed Oil used in Artistry Skin Nutrition™ skincare cold pressed?
Yes. Our White Chia Seed Oil is considered a cold-pressed oil because the specific extraction process used to recover the seeds’ oils is mechanical in nature and does not involve the addition of heat.
5. Why do Artistry Skin Nutrition™ moisturizers deliver 24-hour hydration, but you use them twice a day?
Great question! There are a few reasons. Perhaps most important for busy lifestyles, it keeps skin hydrated on busy mornings or late nights when you can’t fit in your full routine (or, let’s be honest, when you forget). In addition, from a healthy skin perspective, the more you can keep your skin at higher moisture levels, the better it is for your overall healthy look. Finally, 24-hour hydration is quick, easily understandable claim that helps Artistry Skin Nutrition™ moisturizers stand out from other products. You can think of this long-lasting moisture claim as a reflection of how effective and moisturizing the product is. A high number is not the “be all and end all” (since fortifying the moisture barrier is also key) but with 24-hours of moisture, you know you are giving your skin an amazing rush of intense hydration.
6. Does Artistry Skin Nutrition™ skincare follow Artistry™ Clean formulation standards?

For example, a product showing this symbol would be usable for 12 months, or one year, after opening.
17. What’s the difference between the Defense Barrier and the Environmental Barrier?
The Defense Barrier is more about physically stopping external particles (like pollution particles, dust and other impurities) from getting into skin. By doing so, the Defense Barrier helps to prevent the onset of irritation. The Environmental barrier is focused on reducing the effects of environmental aggressors that penetrate into skin’s surface, such as UVA and UVB rays, IR and blue light, and free radicals.
18. What is oxidative damage?
Free radicals are a type of molecule that aggressively reacts with other molecules. They are also known as “oxidants” because they quickly oxidize other molecules. That means they steal an oxygen atom and affect the chemical structure of the original molecule—which can be referred to as “oxidative damage.” For everyday examples of oxidative damage, think about shiny metal turning to rust, or a juicy bright apple turning brown.
Within skin, oxidative damage is considered one of the single most important causes of unhealthier skin and the appearance of premature signs of aging. The free radical molecules wreak havoc on all of skin’s functions. And while skin has its own defense mechanisms against oxidative damage, the additional help you can provide with your skin care can make a dramatic difference for visibly healthy skin.
19. What is micro-dust (PM 2.5)?
Micro-dust, also known as PM 2.5, refers to extremely fine particles of airborne pollution that can land on skin, where they can be difficult to remove due to their very small size. PM stands for “particulate matter,” and 2.5 refers to particles that are 2.5 microns in size — about 20 times smaller than the width of a human hair. In cities and other environments with high pollution, toxic micro-dust is regarded as a significant culprit in prematurely aging skin’s appearance. Lingering micro-dust can leave skin looking dry, dull and lifeless.
20. What are MMPs? Are they necessary for normal, healthy skin?
MMPs are matrix metalloproteinases, special enzymes that break down and remove damaged collagen. They are vital for normal, healthy skin. Maintenance of the extracellular matrix (ECM) depends on a tightly regulated balance between constructive (building or producing) and degradative (weakening or destroying) pathways. MMPs are critical to the degradation pathway. Depending on the needs of the ECM at any given time, only certain MMPs will be “turned on” to accomplish the needed task. When there is dysregulation — meaning the normal regulation gets disrupted, as happens with age-related changes or when there is environmental stress like photodamage — then there is more destruction (collagen breakdown) than construction of the ECM.
21. What is "glass like” or “glassy” skin?
Glass-like skin describes skin that has the appearance of glass. Glass-like skin is smooth and luminous, and it appears even-toned with reduced-looking pores. Like “dewy” skin, glass-like skin aims for moisturized skin that has an almost transparent complexion and a youthful glow.
22. What is crepey skin?
Crepey skin is thin and looks finely wrinkled, like crepe paper. It may also sag or feel loose. While crepey skin is similar to common wrinkles in many ways, the condition tends to impact larger areas and the skin feels noticeably more fragile and thin.
23. Can I use just one Artistry Skin Nutrition™ product?
Of course! Each product has been shown to be highly effective on its own. For use after chemical peel or laser treatment, a customer should consult his/her physician.
